Yesterday 25 year old German fencer Britta Heidemann won the individual epee gold medal and captured the heart of the Chinese fans while she was at it. At the press conference following her win, Britta fielded and answered questions in Chinese. It turns out she’s a Chinese Studies major at Cologne and previously lived and studied in Beijing.

Fanny Rinne led the defending Olympic champion German Field Hockey team to an opening round victory over Great Britain. Fanny scored two goals in the German’s 5-1 win over the Brits. Rinne is a legit superstar in the field hockey world and was on the German gold medal team in Athens in 2004

Britta Heideman is a 21 year old, 5’11”, 143 lb fencer from Cologne, Germany. She is a college student studying Chinese Economics and competes for the TSV Bayer fencing team. She is single.
Britta has been called the Anna Kournikova of fencing, but.as Jochen Farber of the International Fencing Federation says “she has real talent and wins competitions.”
