Yulia Efimova is a controversial 5’10”, 141 lb, 24 year old swimmer from Russia. She has twice been banned from competition due to failed doping tests. Originally, she was part of a blanket doping ban that the IOC handed down to all Russian athletes. The IOC left the door open to reinstatement of individual athletes by each sports individual federation. In the case of the swim team, the International Swimming Federation ruled that the ban on Russian swimmers would be upheld.
Efimova successfully appealed arguing that because she lived and trained in the United States, she would not have been subjected to any doping that Russian Swimming Federation might have been part of.
Many people felt that this was the height of hypocrisy by Efimova, given that she had twice failed drug test. She has been competing in Rio, but every time she took to the starting blocks she faced substantial booing.
Her response to the booing can be seen by this recent post to her Instagram account.
Yulia had done a bit of subtle boasting following her semifinal heat win when she threw up a #1 finger to the crowd.
US Swimmer Lily King called her out for the action.

Unfortunately, Yulia’s Instagram post and #1 finger might have been just a bit premature as she finished second in last night’s 100 meter breaststroke finals to the aforementioned King (I like the pic anyway – purely for artistic reasons, of course). This time Lily King got to throw up the #1.
However, Efimova will still have the opportunity to make her predictions come true when the 200m competition starts on Wednesday afternoon.
More Rio Pics
Putting the controversy aside for a bit, Efimova still is a very hot woman (and I’ve got the pics to prove it).
