2008 German Playboy Olympic Issue

The German edition of Playboy that hits the newstand today has four German Olympic team members posing inside. In a first, the magazine will publish with four separate covers – one for each of the young athletes.

The four athletes are (clockwise from top):

Field Hockey Player Katharina Schulz
Sailor Petra Niemann
Judoka Romy Tarangul
Kayaker Nicole Reinhardt

These four are following in the tradition of 2004 Olympians Fanny Rinne and Britte Heidemann who posed four years ago.

Several news organizations have tried to create a controversy by suggesting that perhaps the girls appearance in the magazine might impact either their or their teams performance in the Olympics.

UK Metro:
The Germany women’s hockey team’s Olympic campaign is in danger of being overshadowed after one of their players starred on the front of today’s Playboy magazine.

Reuters:
German hockey player Katharina Scholz fears news of her being a Playboy covergirl might overshadow her Olympic campaign.

I have the cover shots without the print overlaying them but I’m going to wait a few hours before I post them in the hopes that I can lay my hands on some of the other photos that are used inside the issue.
